Attorney
Timothy S. Keiter received his law degree cum laude from Harvard
Law School in 1984, and an A.B. degree in
Mathematics summa cum laude from Hamilton
College in 1981. A member of Phi Beta Kappa, Mr. Keiter worked
for a year after law school as law clerk to Chief Justice Vincent L. McKusick of the Supreme Judicial Court of Maine.
In 1985, he joined a large law firm in Portland, Maine,
where his practice was concentrated in commercial real estate and other commercial transactions. In 1992, he declined
an offer to become a partner of that firm, and instead he established his own practice in downtown Portland. Mr. Keiter has successfully represented many clients in their dealings with
sophisticated national and regional companies. Mr. Keiter is an experienced attorney with over 20 years of experience representing
large and small clients in a wide variety of real estate-related matters, including commercial leases, financing, commercial
real estate development, easements, land use and general contract and corporate law, as well as in commercial evictions and
in appellate work before the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. He also regularly forms corporate and limited liability company
entities for clients, and is involved in stock and asset purchase and sales transactions, as well as condominiums, and lease
and purchase and sale transactions relating to a wide variety of commercial and industrial properties. Mr. Keiter is
admitted to practice before all state courts in Maine, Massachusetts
and in New Hampshire, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine. Mr. Keiter has served as the President
of the Cleaves Law Library Committee of the Cumberland Bar Association, and led the effort to achieve independence and tax-exempt
status for the Library. Mr. Keiter has represented many clients in his professional career.
